This is a book written by the international bestseller, Paulo Coelho, a Brazilian Novelist.


This novel is about a girl called Pilar, a student with monotonous lifestyle following same routine everyday, searching for greater meaning of life. She dated many guys but her fear of love and believe that it only brings pain and suffering always bought huddles in her relationships.


She has a childhood best friend, who unlike her travels all around the world. And sends her post cards from all the places he visits. She envies his life and longs to meet him someday. Which gets fulfilled one day when he calls her to his seminar. She sat the whole time in awe watching him perform magic.

After the seminar they went on a long walk when he told he had spiritual powers of Virgin Mary. He can cure ailments, perform magic and eventually confesses that he has fallen head over heels for her and wants to live with her.


What is the fate of this love story? Will they ever be together?
